Do you remember how when you were younger
The summers all lasted forever?
Days disappeared into months, into years
Hold that feeling forever

Chance the Rapper, “Do You Remember”

Good morning y’all. Supposed to be a hot one this weekend, grab your sunglasses and some cold drinks to be cool while it’s hot.

A few years ago I started going to the doctor for an annual visit. Just for normal stuff, blood tests, overall health, refill prescriptions, etc. Obviously I would weigh in at each visit and that would go in the health record.

Well, one year I ate a lot of Chipotle for various reasons. I had noticed clothes starting to fit a little tighter, but figured that was just because of my millennial fashion skinny jeans vibe. I went to the doctor for an annual visit, stepped on the scale, and it showed 15 pounds more than the the year before. And at that point, I knew some lifestyle changes were headed my way.

After that visit I joined a new gym and started making this Kale Salad with Chicken recipe for lunch most days. And wouldn’t you know, the next year the skinny jeans were sliding on easier and I was back to playing weight. Guess life can’t be all BLT’s and Buttermilk biscuits.

Y’all enjoy some greens. Let’s get supper on the table.

Commandment #11 – Cast iron will rust if liquid is left. Bone dry at the end of the night.
