Good morning y’all – Soup’s On!
Last week my preacher hit us with a sermon about hospitality, emphasizing the fact that true hospitality can bridge differences between the all the things that separate us. Part of that belief is because the table of Heaven will serve food from falafel to fried chicken, where “All peoples, tribes, and tongues” will converge around the same set of plates. So no matter where you are or aren’t on any religious band, I’ll encourage everyone to try and share that spirit of hospitality as part of cast iron cooking.
At its core, hospitality is making someone new to a group feel included and welcome as part of the inner group. This can be achieved in a variety of settings, be it an airport lounge, hotel concierge, work environment, or beachside pool. Or at a kitchen table in any home, condo, or apartment. Ultimately, the location isn’t what matters as much as the spirit of welcome and service you can provide to others.
So practice your hospitality, and cook up some Magic Elixir Bean Soup for some old friends or some new friends. Happy soup season. Let’s get supper on the table.
