Good morning y’all.

Welcome to summer, officially.

Commandment #3 – Don’t put it in the dishwasher

Sweet Potato and Honey Salad – Look no farther for a way to eat healthy, delicious food this summer. Take 30 minutes to cook some sweet potatoes, drape a little honey on top, and add some flair to your daily greens.

Every year as a kid we would spend all of June and July outside getting chased by the mosquitos. Summertime was crazy hot in South Carolina and we would sweat from the time we walked out the door in the morning until we came back in that night.

Every day was the same, until that one glorious week at the beach.

As you can see, there’s video evidence that surfing has never been a natural skill of mine. Recently, a West Coast family member commented on the “baby waves” of the Atlantic. Those waves did little to prepare me for open water, but they did give me an appreciation for the healing power of sunshine and ocean breeze.

Find yourself some sand this summer, and make a little hay while the sun shines. Maybe fall of the surfboard a time or two.

Y’all be good.

We’d love to see what you’re cooking! Snap a quick photo of your cast iron creation at home this week and send it in for a chance to be featured.

As always, thanks so much for subscribing to this page. I hope it brings a little joy to your inbox and kitchen table each week.
