Upsize Down Skillet Pizza — Do yourself a favor and take a chance with this recipe this summer on the grill. A fantastic combination of dough, tomato sauce, and vegetables made whole with an upside down skillet singe.
Today I drove by a lemonade stand in the neighborhood.
Some good ole-fashioned-summertime boredom entrepreneurial spirit. It reminded me of the odd jobs I would hold in the summertime growing up, before the days of a W2 taking all my time from June through August.
As a kid, I cut grass in the neighborhood, staying shirtless from sun up to sun down and overcharging my parents friends. My first employer was a local pet store my Dad’s friend owned, for a whopping $7.25 an hour.
My first engineering job as an intern was holding the “Stop/Slow” sign off the side of state highways in South Carolina for roadwork.
So yeah, I think there is something to be said for the value of summertime sweat equity.
This is a great time to put summertime sweat equity into your cooking skills.
Grab a cast iron skillet, try something new. Now is the time of year to figure out what works for the fall when days get a little shorter and life gets a little more crammed.
Cooking great food for myself and my family every day keeps me grateful for the simple things in the day to day. And on the days when I’m worn out, it rejuvenates mind, body, and spirit at dinner time.
Put some entrepreneurial spirit into your kitchen table this week. And stop by the lemonade stand on the way home.
